Here you can see the motto of the state etched into the capitol.

Coldness

As we get nearer to January and February I am dreading Winter. I am not much of a cold minded girl. Guess I need to move somewhere sunnier.

Christmas Light

These baskets full of greenery were on all the downtown streetlights.

From downtown. Of course with all the bank mergers no longer the bank name, but a nice clock.

Christmas Sunday

This is a nativity scene from a local catholic church. A friend, who is catholic, tells me it is tradition not to put the baby Jesus out until Christmas. I guess you are never too old to learn something.

A Sunny Morning

I really liked this picture.

Next week we are out of town, but hopefully I have planned enough pictures to keep posting through the week.

Christmas Cards

It's the time of the year, when I love getting the mail. I love getting Christmas cards. I love getting the Christmas letters. We have one set of friends that sends the funniest family letter every year. Love reading it. I finally have most of my cards sent this year. I never seem to have time to write much in my cards though. It would seem as much as I enjoy receiving them, I would put more into sending them.

Playing in the Snow

My daughter begged all weekend to play in the snow. She had just been getting over being sick, so I was a little reluctant. I did let her play for a few minutes. You would have thought she was in heaven.

First Snow of the Season

We got our first snow of the season. It was probably only three inches, but enough to make everything all white. It is suppose to be in the 40s this week though, so it will gone by the end of the week. Just the way I like snow. I hate snow when it gets dirty from the cars and grime.

St. Peters

This is a picture of St. Peter's before the ice or the snow came to town. It is the catholic church which is right off the capitol complex. In fact this picture was taken while I am standing right in front of the capitol steps.

Branches

I finished my Christmas shopping yesterday. Now, I just have to wrap it all. I am also trying to redesign my blog. It looks a little bland to me and I am trying to take it up a notch. The problem, I had no experience in web design, so not so easy for me.

Iced

Another picture from out latest storm. They are calling for snow this weekend, so I will have more weather this weekend of which to take some shots. Not that I am looking forward to the snow.

Ice Storm

This was the view of my backyard on Sunday. That was the first day we had no power. It even came to be that none of these trees on these wires were the cause of it. Not even sure the ones closest to the ground are powerlines. They may be phone or cable. I am just happy to finally be back in my home and have electricity.

Santa is coming to town

In the same downtown bank. I am pulling from some pictures I took a week or so ago. We finally have power back and hopefully I will be able to post some of my ice pictures tomorrow.

Living Windows - Kids Singing

Saturday's picture, a few days late. We got hit with a major ice storm here and are without power. So had to wait until we got to a computer to post. When I get to one where I can download pictures, I will post some of the storm's after effects, but for now will finish up the living windows series.

Living Windows- Bell Ringers

The bell ringers for Salvation Army have been out for a few weeks here in Mid-Missouri. There was one downtown for living Windows. For me, the bell ringers are part of the Christmas season. This year is the first year I have been able to teach my three year about giving and the bell ringers at the stores have been a perfect opportunity to teach her about giving to those who don't have anything. She does want to know why the bell ringers are talking to everyone though, as I have also taught her not to talk to strangers. Have you ever noticed in today's society, some of our best lessons seem to conflict to three year olds?

Santa is in town

Friday night was the kick off event for the Christmas season in Jefferson City, Living Windows. They close off downtown and all the stores have window displays with live people, music, and dancers. The highlight of course, is Santa's arrival. Over the next couple of days I will be posting pictures from the night and the windows. It is actually a pretty big event for this town, with a lot of people coming out, even when it is cold, like it was this year.
Santa also came early this year for me, as my husband gave me my gift early. He finally found someone with the new Nikon D300 in stock and was able to get one for me. So I have been playing with it a lot this weekend. I have to say, so far, I have very happy with it. So soon, my pictures posted will be with that camera instead of the D50.

Monthly Theme Day - Bridges

The montly theme for December 1 is bridges. This is the Missouri River Bridge. It is the only way directly into Jefferson City from the north over the Missouri River. When Missouri had the great flooding in 1993, the bridge was not able to be used to go in and out of the city and the rerouting added at least 30 minutes to a simple commute from Columbia, MO.
