Normally we have great fall colors, but this year is not shaping up to be one of the better years. Lots of brown, but only a little red showing up. Tomorrow my daughter may make an appearance on the blog in all her Halloween princess glory.
The Colonel Darwin Marmaduke House, otherwise known as the Warden's residence is one of the nicer houses in town which is now office space. It once housed the warden of the prison, and was built with inmmate labor.
These walls are of the old Prison. At one time it was the oldest operating prison west of the Mississppi. A new prison has since been built, and this area is being renovated into a new Federal courthouse and other areas, including a museum.
My favorite thing to take pictures of in town is the capitol. It is situated in such a way on a hill that you can see it from all places in town on clear days. This is a view from the west.
One of the many fountains around the Capital Complex. During the budget crisis the fountains were turned off due to the cost, but someone donated money to keep them running.
Art inside the Park begins this weekend in Jefferson City. This year it has been moved to the grounds of the Capitol, from Memorial Park. In Jefferson City, the Capitol grounds are used for a lot of the main events.
Jefferson City is the County seat for Cole County. This is the clock tower on the Courthouse located in downtown Jefferson City on the other end of High Street and Capitol Street from the Capitol.
The Governor Matt Blunt, his wife Melanie, and thier son at the annual Trick or Treat at the Mansion, 2006. This years' event will be held this Saturday, October 20. They have all kinds of events for the kids.
We had another unseasonably warm day yesterday, so lots of people were taking advantage of it. Guess the dogs benefited too. This was taken at Memorial Park, one of Jefferson City's parks with a walking path.
