Breakfast & Lunch

This is one of the "newer" restaurants in town, Angelina's Cafe. It is only open for breakfast and lunch. I also hear it has the best desserts.

Carnegie Library

Right next door to the current library is the old Carnegie Library (now the Cole County Assessor's Office). It appears it was built from a grant of $25,000 on 1-15-1900 from Andrew Carnegie.

Retirement

This is a picture of MOSERs which is the state retirement system. This is one of the main reasons to work for the state. I will be able to retire when I am 53 with a pretty good chunk of my salary. After a few days off, I am really looking forward to that day.

The Easter Bunny Brigade

Happy Easter everyone. These are candy bunnies I made with my daughter. It came from a Family Fun magazine. She loved making them, and loved giving one to each participant at Easter dinner. Below is a picture of just one, closer up.

Busy streets

This picture is taken looking down Missouri Blvd, the main street in Jefferson City. You can see the capitol in the distance.

Back

I have been in KC for a few days. Back in town for the afternoon before heading to the other side of the state. I use to drive a Mustang convertible, pre daughter. On days when it is this nice, I miss in desperately. This one is on the local Ford lot.

Mine was yellow and black, though.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

This is the place to be on St. Patrick's Day for Jefferson City. It is a bar called Paddy Malone's. It used to be called Pat's Place. So are you wearing your green today? We went to a party on Saturday night and I did my shot of Jameson's for luck.

Capital Mall

For years, Capital Mall was the only choice for shopping in Jefferson City. It has a Dillards, JCPennys and a Sears as its anchor stores. Lately stip malls are popping up with more options and an Old Navy, TJ Maxx, and Barnes and Noble. I still don't think anyone comes to Jefferson City to shop, but there are options while you are here. I am headed to Kansas City later this week for some relxation and whenever we go to KC or St. Louis, shopping is usually pretty high on my list.

Movies

Friday night has always been tradtionally movie night, as that is when the new movies premiere. I have not been to too many movies since we are parents to a three year old. Our three year old is going to the grandparents for a week though and I am so looking forward to a trip to the movies!

Spring Break Begins

Upon adjounment today, Spring Break begins for the Legislature. This is traditionally seen has the half way point for the session. So far not much has passed. When they get back is when they will get down to business, passing such important legislation like a state beer and a state dessert. Missouri already has lots of state symbols. Do we really need a state beer?

Drug Stores

I love local neighborhood drug stores. Whaleys actually has four locations now, but this is the oldest and still has the old soda fountain inside. It also delivers your prescriptions.

Give me Coffee and no one gets hurt

My favorite coffee shop. It's a little cheaper than Starbucks and I think yummier. Forgive the smudge and weirdness, it was taken through my window.
By the way, last time I post about gas prices. After I took that picture and then posted it, our gas prices jumped.

Gas Prices

They say gas prices are on the rise for summer. It is something I tend to not give much thought to, so I wonder when it will get high enough, I will have to give it thought. I still think our gas prices are very low compared to other places.

The Bolivar Street Bridge

I went to a new park in town, well at least new to me, the Bolivar Street Park, or Rotary Centernnial Park. It has a nice view of the bridge (as I will show in the future) and a nice history of the neighborhood and bridge on these plaques.

Coal Train

It has gotten cold here again. And is snowing. Ugh I am ready for spring. Here is a train full of coal (at least I think it is coal) to come warm us up.

Winter Lake

We have had a beautiful weekend, in the 70s. I have not been able to get out and take pictures as we had several home improvement projects planned. Then I also had to transfer a lot of my photos from my computer to my EHD, as my computer was ready to die, which of course also meant computer shopping. Yeah! It is turn back to the colder weather tomorrow however. This picture is another view of Binder Lake. This one looks more wintery however.

March 2008 Theme Day: Graffiti or street mural

I had a hard time finding graffiti or street murals. I did find this graffiti on a railroad car, so I am going with it for theme day. Make sure you visit all the other sites participating too.
